PRESEC Legon has made history by becoming the first school to win The Sharks Quiz competition three times.
They triumphed over St. Peter’s SHS in a fiercely contested match, with each school winning two rounds. This achievement also marks PRESEC as the first school to secure consecutive victories in successive finals in the competition’s history.
The Presbyterian Boys Senior High School (PRESEC Legon) successfully defended their title in The Sharks Quiz after a challenging match against St. Peter’s (PERSCO). This victory cements PRESEC’s record as the first senior high school in Ghana to win the quiz three times, with previous wins in 2020 and 2023.
PRESEC dominated the first two rounds, scoring 50-0 and 90-50 against two-time champions St. Peter’s SHS. H
owever, St. Peter’s made a strong comeback, winning the final two rounds with scores of 50-30 and 40-20, though it was not enough to overturn PRESEC’s lead. The final score was 190 for PRESEC to PERSCO’s 140.
This victory reinforces PRESEC’s status as the best senior high school in Ghana, having won numerous quiz competitions. They are the first school to achieve back-to-back victories in The Sharks Quiz finals.
Winning season 7 of The Sharks Quiz earns PRESEC the Golden Book of Knowledge, along with cash, a trophy, medals, and other prizes from sponsors.
While the prize money for season 7 hasn’t been confirmed, PRESEC received GH¢20,000 for winning season 6 against Adisadel College (Adisco).
Speaking to YEN.com.gh, Executive Producer Mr. Abel Ohene Acquaye affirmed the competition’s longevity and inclusivity, promising new innovations.
The competition is designed to include students from various Senior High School courses, emphasizing core competencies in Arts, Business, Science, and Technical fields.
PRESEC Legon secured their spot in the semi-finals of season 7 by defeating St. Augustine’s College 210-80. They won rounds two, three, and four after a setback in the first round, where they scored 30 points to St. Augustine’s 50.
