60-Year-Old Woman Gives Birth at ABUAD Multi-System Hospital

A 60-year-old woman successfully gave birth at ABUAD Multi-System Hospital, marking a remarkable medical achievement.

A 60-year-old woman has given birth to babies at the Afe Babalola University Multi-System Hospital (ABUAD) in Ado-Ekiti, marking a remarkable success after years of infertility.

According to a statement by Tunde Olofintila, Director of Corporate Affairs, the delivery was made possible through the hospital’s advanced fertility treatments and comprehensive antenatal care at its state-of-the-art Fertility Centre.

Chief Medical Director, Dr. Akinola Akinmade, praised the collaborative effort between ABUAD and Olive Hospital, noting that their partnership played a crucial role in achieving the rare medical feat.

Dr. Akinmade emphasized that the case demonstrates how modern reproductive technologies, combined with high-quality obstetric care, can yield successful outcomes—even in high-risk pregnancies.

He highlighted that ABUAD’s Fertility Centre is equipped with cutting-edge technology and staffed by seasoned specialists, making it possible to handle complex maternal cases that typically require treatment abroad.

The hospital, which opened in 2017, has gained recognition for its success in performing advanced procedures such as kidney transplants, open-heart surgeries, brain and spine operations, and interventional radiology.

Founder of the institution, Aare Afe Babalola (SAN), hailed the achievement as a validation of his vision to reduce Nigeria’s dependency on foreign medical care. He described the birth as not just a personal victory for the patient, but also a significant milestone for Nigeria’s healthcare system.
