A viral video shows students being forced by their school’s Parents-Teachers Association to destroy their mobile phones due to poor academic performance, sparking widespread outrage and mixed reactions online.

A video circulating online has ignited widespread reactions, depicting students being compelled to destroy their mobile phones.
This directive reportedly came from the Parents-Teachers Association (PTA) of their school, citing the devices as a primary distraction leading to the students’ unsatisfactory academic results.
Believing that mobile phones were the root cause of the declining academic performance, the PTA decided to take decisive action. Instead of opting for less drastic measures like confiscation, they allegedly instructed the students to personally destroy their phones in their presence.
The shared video captures the somber scene of students using stones to smash their devices one after another. This act has elicited a plethora of mixed reactions from netizens, many of whom have voiced their outrage and concern over the method employed.
Reactions:
toby_loba: “This kind of thing would be especially painful if your parents support it.”
ennybreezy: “WHY DESTROY THEM? WHY NOT SEIZE THEM FOR A PERIOD OF TIME??? COMPLETELY WRONG 👎👎👎”
adeoluolatomide: “This is gross and should not be encouraged, no matter how bad their performance is! They are even worse than the students they’re correcting. What happened to seizing the phones? 🤦”
sean_2_nicee: “Shout out to our own time when there was nothing like phones in school—only the brain and consistency.”
tolanteeno: “Why not tell them to keep the phones at home and ban them from being taken to school? Why destroy and throw money down the drain in this harsh economy? If this was my child, you would be refunding me in full!”
