Redeemer’s University Refutes Reports of Fire Outbreak on Campus

Redeemer’s University has debunked reports of a campus fire outbreak, clarifying that it was a minor bush burning near a bamboo forest that was promptly extinguished without any threat to lives or property.

The management of Redeemer’s University (RUN), Ede, Osun State, has dismissed reports claiming a fire outbreak occurred on its campus.

In a statement released by the university’s Public Relations Officer, Adetunji Adeleye, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Shadrach Olufemi Akindele, clarified that the incident was a minor case of bush burning near an isolated bamboo forest, posing no threat to students or their hostels.

Professor Akindele emphasized that the fire was swiftly extinguished by members of the university community in collaboration with the State Fire Service.

Expressing dissatisfaction with the spread of false information, the Vice-Chancellor denied rumors of a transformer explosion, noting that no transformer was located at the site of the incident. He reassured stakeholders that the fire, which occurred around 8:45 p.m. on Monday, was effectively contained and did not endanger lives or property.

“The fire was simply a case of bush burning near an isolated bamboo forest, which was promptly extinguished by stakeholders in the university community and the State Fire Service,” Akindele reiterated.

He further explained that the university places a high priority on public health and safety, underscored by its investment in fire safety equipment, including a significant number of fire extinguishers.

The Vice-Chancellor urged the public to verify information before spreading unverified claims, warning against rumormongers whose intent is to create panic and discord.
