Police Nab Seven Suspects in Federal Polytechnic Bauchi Robbery
The Bauchi State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of seven individuals connected to the August 12, 2025, robbery attack on the student hostel of the Federal Polytechnic, Bauchi.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Ahmed Wakil, the suspects admitted their involvement in the attack, which left several students injured and resulted in the loss of valuable items. The incident sparked protests by students demanding improved security on campus. Police responded to the demonstration with teargas to disperse the crowd.
The suspects are part of a larger criminal group reportedly active in areas like Yelwa, Birshi Gandu, Birshin Fulani, and Gwallameji. Armed with weapons and flashlights, the gang allegedly broke into homes, assaulted residents who resisted, and often fled to neighboring states to avoid arrest.
Identified Suspects
The following individuals were arrested:
- Mansur Yakubu (aka Chasu, 20) – Lushi
- Abbas Auwal (aka Abe, 20) – Lushi
- Musa Bala (aka Baban Nani, 20) – Lushi
- Aliyu Ahmadu (aka Yellow, 21) – Lushi
- Zurkalaini Aliyu (aka Baki, 20) – Birshin Fulani
- Muftahu Ibrahim (aka Dodo, 20) – Lushi
- Hamza Bala (aka R-Kelly, 29) – Lushi
The suspects also named 13 accomplices, including Adamu Muhammad Lawan, known as Daddy, who was arrested on September 1.
Robbery Mastermind Confesses
Adamu Muhammad confessed to coordinating the operation, which involved around 20 individuals from various areas within Bauchi. Their target was the students’ hostel at Federal Polytechnic Bauchi, where they stole mobile phones, laptops, and power banks.
Police revealed that Adamu personally profited from the crime, selling three stolen phones—Oppo, Samsung, and Infinix—for ₦40,000 through an associate known as Salmanu, aka Papus.
