SSANU and NASU have issued a three-week ultimatum, threatening an indefinite strike if the government fails to settle their four months of unpaid salaries and meet other demands related to wages and allowances.

The Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU) and the Non-Academic Staff Union of Educational and Associated Institutions (NASU) have issued a three-week ultimatum, threatening an indefinite strike if their four months’ unpaid salaries are not settled.
The unions are demanding back pay, better wages, earned allowances, and the implementation of the 2009 agreements with the government.
The Federal Government previously invoked a “No Work, No Pay” policy during the unions’ 2022 strike, but the unions’ latest ultimatum comes after a 10-day grace period that ended on July 26, 2024, with no resolution in sight six weeks later.
