President Bola Tinubu has appointed a 39-year-old professor as the new JAMB Registrar to replace Professor Ishaq Oloyede and lead the board’s future operations and reforms.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed a 39-year-old professor as the new Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), replacing Professor Ishaq Oloyede after years of service in the examination body.
The newly appointed registrar, whose emergence has attracted nationwide attention due to his relatively young age, is expected to oversee the conduct of the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) and other admission-related activities across Nigeria’s tertiary institutions.
The appointment was reportedly approved as part of efforts to strengthen the education sector and introduce fresh leadership into the country’s admission system. Many Nigerians have reacted online, with some praising the decision while others commended Professor Oloyede for his contributions during his tenure.
Professor Oloyede, who served as JAMB Registrar for several years, was widely recognized for introducing reforms aimed at improving transparency, reducing examination malpractice, and boosting revenue generation within the board.
The newly appointed registrar is expected to officially assume office in the coming days as stakeholders in the education sector look forward to possible new reforms and policies under his leadership.
