The Joint Admission and Matriculation Board has released the application statistics by faculty and it was revealed that most candidates are aspiring for Medical courses, followed by social science courses, science courses and engineering courses.

JAMB Statistics of Registration Faculty by Faculty
For universities, the total number of candidates who applied for each faculty are; viz
Faculty of:
- Medical, Pharmaceutical, and Health Sciences – 435,897
- Social Sciences: 376,388
- Sciences: 280,780,
- Engineering, Technology, Environmental: 208, 932
- Administration: 166,348
- Arts and Humanities: 108,809
- Law and Legal Studies: 102,961
- Education: 90, 898
- Agriculture: 32,729
For polytechnics, the total number of candidates who applied for each faculty are; viz
Faculty of:
- Social Sciences: 19,283
- Engineering, Technology, Environmental: 11, 214
- Sciences: 3,767
- Health: 7,038
- Agriculture: 2,303
For Colleges of education (COE), the total number of candidates who applied for each faculty are; viz
Faculty of:
- Arts: 23,457
- Science: 10,684
