Tragedy as Adamawa Student Ends Life Over Breakup

Cursory: A 24-year-old student at the Federal Polytechnic Mubi, Adamawa State, took her life, reportedly due to a breakup with her boyfriend, alleged to be a lecturer. The Adamawa State Police Command is investigating following a report by the father.

The Adamawa State Police Command has affirmed the passing of a female student, Jamima Shetima Balami, who is reported to have taken her own life by ingesting a substance suspected to be rat poison.

Balami, identified as a National Diploma (ND) II student in the Department of Mass Communication at the Federal Polytechnic Mubi in Adamawa state, according to reports by Leadership newspaper.

The deceased, a 24-year-old student from Garkida Gombi, passed away at her residence in Vinikilang, also known as Hayin Gada in the Girei local government area of Adamawa state.

She was reportedly the only daughter of her father. The tragic incident occurred when her boyfriend, purportedly a lecturer at Modibbo Adama University (MAU), allegedly requested her to terminate their relationship.

The police spokesperson, SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, confirmed the incident on Monday, January 29, stating that the father reported the matter to the police, and an ongoing investigation is in progress.
