Two Nigerian sisters have expressed their joy to netizens after the duo bagged a Ph.D. degree on the same day in Kwara State University, KWASU.
One of the sisters, Hauwah AbdulKareem took her LinkedIn page to express their joy, disclosing that on 11th December, she graduated from the Department of Economics while her sister, Habibah Aiyelabegan graduated from the Department of Business Administration.
Appreciating her parents, Hauwah said “We owe a debt of #gratitude first to Almighty Allah for seeing us through the programme successfully despite the numerous challenges encountered right after getting admitted into the programme. And then to our dear parents, who never treated nor trained us differently as girl children. Rather, they exposed us to a world of possibilities and made us realize the world was our oyster.
“Thank you daddy, for educating us, training us, supporting us, motivating us, building us, molding us, pushing us, believing in us and being there for us. My dad is always there in every sense of the phrase. Daddy is someone I can call at 12 midnight when I’m running out of ideas or at 4:00am when I am in pains.
“Thank you mummy for allowing us turn your house into a restaurant, crèche and library in the course of the journey. Thank you for inculcating in us the virtue of patience and perseverance.
“#thankyou certainly doesn’t express our depth of gratitude for being the perfect role models and making us stand tall as empowered women. We are eternally grateful”
Also, appreciating their husbands who also contributed immensely to their academic breakthrough, the Doctor Hauwa wrote “
To the husbands, thank you for being kind, for the love, the unquantifiable support, the encouragement in every sense of it, the understanding, the compromises and let’s not forget, for bearing the brunt of the frustrations associated with phd journey 😅. You walked the talk on all fronts and stood rock solid to ensure we succeeded. We are super #grateful.
