Two days after the gunmen attacked and kidnapped six people in the University of Abuja, the institution’s University Academic Union (ASUU) branch has stated that its members are too traumatized to attend classes.

The union also expressed regret over the poor condition of the staff dormitory built by President Shehu Shagari’s government.
The dormitory was originally used as a police barracks and later changed to provide temporary accommodation for the founding employees of the university.
The chairman of the labor union, Dr. Kasim Umar, spoke to reporters on Thursday, calling on the government to start building fences around the staff dormitory as a matter of urgency to effectively control the movement of people around the university dormitory.
While demanding the immediate rescue and release of all kidnapped members, children, and other staff, they also demanded that all illegal residents and intruders be expelled from the university’s land immediately within 24 hours.
