Three members of the University of Jos community were injured in a deadly Plateau State attack that killed 28 people, but are currently recovering in hospital.

Two students and a staff member of University of Jos (UNIJOS) were among those impacted by the violent attack that occurred in Angwan Rukuba, located in Jos North, Plateau State, on Sunday, March 29, 2026. The incident reportedly led to the loss of at least 28 lives.
The affected individuals from the university include Patrick Ishaya, a 300-level student studying Geography and Planning; Abel Joro Gershon, a 300-level Building student; and Mr. Duguryil Ufialas Daniel, who serves as a hall officer at the postgraduate hostel.
On Tuesday, the Vice Chancellor of UNIJOS, Tanko Ishaya, visited the injured victims at Jos University Teaching Hospital (JUTH) to check on their recovery. He was accompanied by Noel Wanang and Dr. Rosemary Anga, the Deputy Dean of Student Affairs.
According to Prof. Ishaya, the victims are responding positively to medical treatment. He also praised the hospital staff for their quick and professional response in handling the situation.
He called on members of the university community and the general public to continue offering prayers for the victims’ full recovery and for peace to return to the region.
