UNIJOS to Resume First Semester Exams April 13, Assures Safety

The University of Jos has rescheduled its postponed first semester exams to April 13, 2026, assuring students of improved security after recent violence in Jos.

The University of Jos has announced that its first semester examinations will now continue from April 13, 2026, after being postponed due to security concerns in Jos.

Originally scheduled for April 1 and 2, the exams were delayed following a deadly attack in the Angwa Rukuba area, which resulted in the loss of at least 28 lives and heightened tension across the city.

In a statement issued on Friday, April 3, 2026, the university’s management—through its Deputy Registrar for Information and Public Relations, Emmanuel Madugu—confirmed that examinations will resume with those earlier postponed from March 30.

The decision followed a management meeting that reviewed the security situation and the impact of threats to students, which had also led to an extended Easter break allowing students to return home.

Students currently on campus were assured of their safety, as security has been strengthened. They were advised to remain vigilant, exercise caution in their movements, and promptly report any suspicious activity to the university’s security division.

Normal academic activities are set to fully resume on April 7, 2026, ahead of the examination restart.

The university also emphasized its collaboration with relevant security agencies to maintain peace and prevent any further incidents, promising to provide updates as necessary.
