The University of Port Harcourt, Rivers State, has directed staff members, students, and all visitors to wear face masks in the institution following threats of the Delta variant of coronavirus.


In a statement issued yesterday by the Public Relations Officer (PRO), Sam Kpenu, stressed that the order from the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Owunari Georgewill, was aimed at curbing the spread of the Delta variant of COVID-19 in the university community and keeping everyone safe.
The statement ordered every member of the university community to wear face masks and observe the COVID-19 protocols for all indoor activities including lectures, examinations, and meetings.
“All staff members, students, and visitors to the university are required to ensure regular hand washing, use of hand sanitisers, and keep social distancing,” the statement added.
