The Dr. Uzor Cares Foundation awarded over eight million naira in bursaries to 87 students, aiming to alleviate poverty through education and skills development, with leaders urging beneficiaries to seize the opportunity.


The Dr. Uzor Cares Foundation has awarded bursaries worth over eight million naira to 87 tertiary education students, aiming to uplift underprivileged individuals and support their academic journeys.
Speaking at the event, Chairman of the Trustees, Dr. Festus Uzor, emphasized the foundation’s commitment to reducing poverty through education, vocational training, entrepreneurship, and healthcare assistance. He highlighted a vision for a society where every youth has access to essential resources for a meaningful life.
The Deputy Governor of Enugu State, Barr. Ifeanyi Ossai, praised the initiative, stressing that education is the bedrock of a progressive society. He urged beneficiaries to make the most of the opportunity given to them. Similarly, Senator Osita Ngwu encouraged students to remain focused on their studies, emphasizing that hard work could help them achieve success like Dr. Uzor.
Event Chairman, Ozo Dr. Ferdinand Anikwe, commended Dr. Uzor’s selflessness in establishing the foundation, stating that he has extended his compassion to uplift others.
Some beneficiaries expressed deep gratitude, noting that the bursary came at a crucial time amid Nigeria’s economic challenges. Ani Henry Chukwuka, a student of Central Washington College of Health Sciences, described the award as a life-changing opportunity.
The ceremony was attended by several dignitaries, including the Speaker of the Enugu State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Uche Ugwu, Commissioner for Culture Ugochi Madueke, and Enugu State PDP Chairman Dr. Martins Chukwunweike, among others.
