A visitor to Elizade University in Ondo State claims he was harassed and assaulted by campus security while leaving after attending his brother’s birthday celebration, despite following university rules about cakes.

An alleged incident involving campus security has sparked concern at Elizade University, Ondo State, following claims that a visitor was harassed while attending his brother’s birthday celebration on campus.
According to eyewitness accounts, the man had visited the university to celebrate his brother’s birthday with friends and arrived with a cake and other gift items. He was reportedly informed by school authorities that cakes were not allowed within the campus premises.
Sources say the visitor accepted the rule without resistance and agreed to leave the school peacefully with his companions.
However, the situation allegedly escalated while the group was exiting the campus. Witnesses claim a security officer began shouting at the visitor despite his compliance, prompting him to question why he was being treated aggressively as a guest.
The visitor reportedly explained that he was only present for his brother’s birthday, but the security officer allegedly became hostile and demanded handcuffs. Moments later, the encounter is said to have turned physical, with the officer allegedly slapping the visitor multiple times in public.
A friend who witnessed the incident claimed the visitor was assaulted without provocation and humiliated during the confrontation.
As of the time of this report, Elizade University management has not issued an official statement addressing the allegations.
The incident has since raised questions online about visitor treatment, campus security conduct, and accountability within private universities.
