“Yes I have a boyfriend, we encourage and support each other,” — PTI’s Overall Best Graduating Student with 3.95

Miss. Joses Vwegba Peter from the Department of Petroleum Engineering and Geosciences (PEG) of the Delta Petroleum Training Institute (PTI) became the best HND student overall with a CGPA of 3.95 at the 2019/2020 academic conference. 21-year-old Joses, born in Delta, won 11 awards and scholarships at the school rally on October 23, 2021. She shared her thoughts with EBENEZER ADUROKIYA.

Interview extract:

You are the best graduate here, how did you achieve this feat?

I think this is discipline, hard work, determination, and prayer.

How did you spend your time in school, wandering between socializing and learning?

If you have discipline, you will know when to study, when to cook, when to play, and when to go to church. So basically everything is discipline. You just need to obey the discipline.

What unique style or formula did you use in your studies to excel in school?

In normal school days, whenever I think of something I don’t know, I will read. The exam is a different ball game. I study all night and all day.

From the very beginning, did you intend to be the best student?

Yes, it’s in my ND

Have you ever been discouraged by achieving your goals?

Yes. Last semester, I had a very painful experience, so I thought I would give up, but I was able to stand in front of the grace of God and the friends around me.

What has happened so that those who read your story can also be encouraged and learn how to overcome any challenges they encounter?

I lost my 16-year-old sister. It was February this year and it made me feel very depressed because it was very close to my final exam. So, with my family and friends, I was able to stand up and still behave well.

Do you have a boyfriend on campus during the entire study period? How do you manage each other?

Yes. . We are still together. He encouraged me, and I encouraged him. We all support each other, we are disciplined, and can graduate successfully.

What is your dream job?

Of course, he works in the oil and gas field.

What would you advise young students to do to achieve the best results?

My advice is to do things that make you happy. If you want to achieve excellent academic results, please find a way to accomplish it. If it means studying all night or all day or intermittently, then do what works for you. If learning does not make you happy, then you should look for other things that make you happy, some form of skill.

How do you feel to be the best overall student in your portfolio?

I feel happy. I mean I am a girl and I survived in the world of men. I was overwhelmed by happiness.
