Young Genius Graduates as an Engineer at 15!

Cursory: Nirbhay Thacker, a young talent from Jamnagar, Gujarat, Samachar, India, accomplished an extraordinary feat by earning a Bachelor of Engineering degree at the remarkably young age of 15, setting a record as Gujarat’s youngest engineer. Although he faced academic challenges earlier in school, he accelerated his education by completing grades 8 to 12 within a year and achieved impressive academic milestones.

While many finish school around 17 and graduate by their early twenties, Nirbhay Thacker, a prodigious talent from Gujarat’s Jamnagar, achieved both milestones in his mid-teens.

Nirbhay gained widespread attention for completing his Bachelor of Engineering (BE) degree in a mere year, a remarkable feat considering that he had been labeled a “weak student” by his teachers just a few years earlier.

Nirbhay’s academic journey was truly exceptional. In the 2015-16 academic year, he accomplished the remarkable feat of completing classes 8-10 in just six months, followed by grades 11 and 12 in just three months.

Born in 2002, he completed his Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) at the young age of 13. At 15, he earned the title of Gujarat’s youngest engineer by completing a four-year degree course in just one year.

He took the Joint Entrance Examination (Main) and secured a score of 75 out of 360. In 2018, at the age of 15, he received his engineering degree from Gujarat Technological University (GTU).

Nirbhay’s ambitious goals included obtaining 10 engineering degrees within three years, encompassing five different engineering branches: electrical, mechanical, computer, instrumentation and automation, and chemical.

His father, an engineer, and his mother, a doctor, played key roles in guiding his academic journey. Nirbhay pursued his schooling through the International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE), which allowed fast learners to complete their education quickly.

Nirbhay Thacker has become a part of the renowned Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Gandhinagar, with a focus on research and product development.

His aspiration is to contribute to cutting-edge technology in the defense sector. Beyond his pursuit of 10 engineering degrees, he harbors the ambition of completing a PhD as well.

He had received the Young Achiever Award by the World Education Congress.”I believe that if you understand what you are reading you can clear any examination, learning by rote never helps one. That is how I cleared my schooling and junior college.

“I was in a CBSE school till Std VI, and that school was not allowing students to participate in any competition till completion of Std VI. So, I decided to change schools. I took admission in an IGCSE school as a private candidate. That helped me to clear five grades in one year,” he had said at the time of the award.
