A tragic fire outbreak at an Almajiri school in Kaura Namoda, Zamfara State, has claimed the lives of at least 17 students, with several others sustaining injuries.
According to security sources, the fire broke out late Tuesday night and raged for nearly three hours before it was finally brought under control. Eyewitnesses described the inferno as intense, making rescue efforts difficult.
Emergency responders and local authorities arrived at the scene to provide assistance, but by then, the fire had already caused significant casualties. The injured students are currently receiving medical treatment.
Officials have launched an investigation to determine the cause of the fire and assess fire safety measures in schools across the state.
