Cursory: After a long and eventful 12-year journey, a student of Afe Babalola University of Ado-Ekiti (ABUAD), Ekiti, shares his experience as he successfully graduates.

I love this quote that states;
“Success comes when you value time by using it profitably. It comes over time; delay is not denial! Don’t compare your journey to other people. You’re not running their race.“
The key word, don’t compare your journey to other people, shouldn’t be under emphasized.
The graduate, Edijala John Ephie shares his experience as he successfully graduates after spending 12 years in the university.
Ephie took it to his twitter account(now X), where he is identified as Ephis_xiv to celebrate this significant academic achievement.
According to his post, he shared images of his sign-out shirt, featuring the inscription, “2011-2023. God Did!”
He explained that his 12-year stay at the university was primarily due to a specific incident he referred to as “that Sunday night.”
Elaborating on the matter, he recounted how ABUAD’s administration had accused him of involvement in the February 2016 riot that occurred on campus, resulting in the destruction of property worth millions of naira.
He was accused of being an accomplice to the riot group that damaged the infrastructure of the university environment.
His post reads:
“Yea Yea, I just graduated after 12 years solely because of that Sunday night. Nice one ABUAD.
“This was my Supposed Crime; “Chatting on Phone with an ‘alleged’ Riot Culprit” Not like I was involved in the riot directly or indirectly. But because a text from a previous day was found on my phone. N.B.- I was sent to Federal Prison Ado Ekiti for this ‘Offence’. For 3 weeks.
“Practically the most respected lawyer in Nigeria at the moment. 60 years in the Nigerian Bar.
“He made our parents sign an affidavit that we did commit the crimes leveled against us. If our parents didn’t sign, we were to be left in Prison. So they covered their asses. But I mean out parents signed those documents under duress tho.
“To clear the air, I didn’t graduate from ABUAD, I was told not to return to the school premises anymore. For reasons best known to them I was fronted as a criminal. I was axed out!. I got into a new school; Western Delta University, Delta State. I graduated this year.“
A very traumatic experience not to happen to anyone, but glad he didn’t see the delay as a denial.
