14-year-old Ikenna Emmanuel from Glorious Covenant School, Rivers State, won the 2024 MTN mPulse Spelling Bee, earning a ₦5 million scholarship, tech prizes, and recognition as MTN’s One-Day CEO, while his school and teacher also received substantial rewards.
In a thrilling finale, 14-year-old Ikenna Emmanuel has been crowned the winner of the fifth edition of the MTN mPulse Spelling Bee Competition. The event took place on Saturday at the MTN office rooftop in Lagos, showcasing the brilliance of young minds from across Nigeria.
Representing Glorious Covenant School in Rivers State, Ikenna displayed exceptional spelling skills to clinch the first prize, outshining other talented finalists.

As the champion, Ikenna was awarded a ₦5 million scholarship grant, a laptop, a smartphone, and an mPulse goody bag. Additionally, he will serve as the Face of MTN and take on the role of MTN’s One-Day Chief Executive Officer at a future date.
His school also reaped rewards, including a state-of-the-art ICT lab with 10 laptops and 10 MTN Hynetflex 5G routers, while his teacher received a ₦500,000 cash prize for their mentorship.
The competition also recognized other outstanding participants, with Ibigbami Ayomide emerging as the first runner-up and Munachiso Opara securing third place.
