A 26-year-old Nigerian woman, Joy Ahiakwo, has emerged as the overall best graduating student of Caleb University’s Class of 2024 after earning an impressive 4.98 out of 5.00 CGPA in Industrial Chemistry.
Joy’s academic journey began in 2015, when she excelled in the Cambridge GCE O’Level. The following year, she passed her A-Levels with distinction and gained admission to study biochemistry at the University of Illinois, Chicago (UIC), USA.
Despite maintaining an excellent 3.98 CGPA, Joy made the difficult decision to leave UIC in 2019, just three semesters before graduation, and returned to Nigeria. Determined to continue her education, she enrolled at Caleb University, where she pursued industrial chemistry and graduated as the valedictorian.
Reflecting on her journey, Joy emphasized that her success is a testament to perseverance, proving that setbacks can be stepping stones to greatness. She attributed her achievements to discipline, consistency, and faith, adding that her love for chemistry made learning an enjoyable experience.
To students aspiring for academic excellence, she advised them to stay committed, ask questions, and remain focused on long-term goals. Looking ahead, Joy is excited about new opportunities in her career and remains dedicated to breaking boundaries and redefining success.
