Jewel credits her parents for fostering her passion for poetry. She began writing in sixth grade, inspired by her father’s determination and her mother’s encouragement.

“My father, Johnny Rodgers, is the reason for my work ethic. I work incredibly hard because of him,” Jewel shared. “My mother always valued my voice and my creativity, even when no one else did.”

Jewel Rodgers is an accomplished poet, author, and performer. She has been nominated three times for the Omaha Entertainment and Arts Awards and delivered three TEDx talks. Her performances at schools, conferences, and public events captivate audiences across the nation.

Her accolades include:

As a teaching artist with the Nebraska Writers Collective, Jewel mentors aspiring poets and champions the transformative power of poetry.

During her five-year term, Jewel aims to promote poetry, foster youth engagement, and highlight Nebraska-based authors and artists.

“Thank you for recognizing my gift. I am deeply honored. With this platform, I hope to amplify as many voices as possible,” Jewel said during her acceptance speech.

Her father, Johnny Rodgers, expressed immense pride at the announcement ceremony. “It’s incredible. Jewel has worked tirelessly for this. Her achievement proves that with determination, anything is possible.”

Jewel also excels academically. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and a master’s degree in Real Estate Development from New York University.
