CURSORY: The much-anticipated resumption of public varsities is hanging by a thread as Buhari is yet to say anything about ASUU’S demands for the waiver of the no-work-no-pay stipulations.

The Accademic Staff Union of Universities is currently in a meeting with the NEC to deliberate on the whether to call off it’s ongoing strike despite the speaker of the house of representatives saying that agreements have already been signed.
Although most public varsities have signed for the conditional suspension of the strike, it has been revealed that the strike would only be called off after president Buhari speaks on the no-work-no-pay stipulation that was made during strike.
As reported by the Punch newspaper, President Muhammadu Buhari will be having a meeting with his cabinet to make a decision on the no-work-no-pay rule invoked by the federal government at the inception of the strike.
According to reports, the outcome of the meeting is the only determinant that the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) will call off the strike as earlier agreed.
This means that if the decision is not in favour of the union, Nigerian students will be in for a longer stay at home.
