UNILAG, 21 Other Top Nigerian Universities Win N5bn Grant

Cursory: 22 Nigerian universities have received N5.5 billion from the ASR Africa Tertiary Education Grant Scheme. The news was released by Edidiong Idang Idang, the social development specialist for ASR Africa, who said that each of the 22 universities had received N250 million for social development.

The Abdul Samad Rabiu Africa initiative gave a grant totaling N5.5 billion to at least 22 Nigerian colleges. According to Daily Trust, the ASR Africa Tertiary Education Grant Scheme awarded N250 million to each university.

The program was an idea of the Chairman of BUA Group, Abdul Samad Rabiu, according to the social development specialist for ASR Africa, Edidiong Idang. Idang claimed that the plan’s yearly $100 million Africa Fund for Sustainable Development and Renewal was intended to help address the social development problems, such as poor health, education, and other social developmental ills, in other African nations.

She added that the program fosters friendly partnerships with both governmental and private academic institutions in Nigeria and throughout Africa.

Idang, as reported by Daily Nigerian, said:

“We focus our intervention in Africa, and this is expressed mainly on infrastructure development, equipping facilities, and capacity building for researchers, healthcare practitioners, and community-level service providers.

“We also support the efforts of various Governments in Nigeria and Sub-Saharan Africa across our three thematic areas. The Initiative provides both technical and financial resources to partners.”
