Meet 20-year-old Jennifer, One Of Africa’s Youngest Female Pilot

A 20-year-old Ivorian lady, Ouloassia Jennifer has made history by becoming one of Africa’s Youngest Female airline pilots.

Ouloassia Jennifer Yhaye, a 20-year-old Ivorian woman, has made history by becoming one of Africa’s youngest female airline pilots. Jennifer’s journey began at Morning Glory International School in Abidjan.

In 2014, she earned a baccalaureate in pure mathematics, physics, and instrumentation and control, while becoming fluent in French, English, and Spanish.

Jennifer then moved to South Africa to attend 43 Air School (PTY) Ltd., renowned for producing exceptional aviators. After two years of rigorous training, she earned her commercial pilot diploma in 2016.

Upon turning 20, Jennifer returned to Ivory Coast and secured a position with Air Côte d’Ivoire as a first officer for the DASH 8-Q400 aircraft at Asky.

She continued to advance her skills, qualifying to fly the ATR 42/72 and B737-800 aircraft. By 2019, she had accumulated over 800 flight hours, a significant achievement for any pilot.

Recognizing her remarkable accomplishments and dedication to her career, the Ivorian State awarded Jennifer the Excellence Prize for the best contribution to the aviation industry.

Jennifer is currently employed at ASKY AIRLINES, where she recently became a 737MAX pilot, part of the first group to fly the 737MAX aircraft in West Africa.

Initially considering keeping her achievement private, Jennifer now understands its broader impact. She hopes her story will inspire other women, young pilots, black individuals, and dreamers, showing them that if she can achieve her goals, they can too.
