Sunday Odeyale, a determined Nigerian, overcame a five-year admission delay and significant challenges to graduate with First-Class Honours in Accounting from Obafemi Awolowo University, earning accolades for his academic, professional, and leadership achievements.

A resilient Nigerian man, Sunday Odeyale, has triumphed over a five-year admission delay to graduate with a first-class degree in Accounting from Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife.
Despite excelling in his Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) exams, Sunday faced repeated rejections from federal institutions. However, his determination paid off when he gained admission to OAU in 2019, where he set ambitious goals to excel academically and personally.
Sunday graduated with First-Class Honours, earning 36 A’s, 9 B’s, and 2 C’s across 47 courses. By his third year, he became a Chartered Accountant (ACA) and pursued additional certifications. His leadership roles included serving as President of the Accounting Students’ Association (NUASA) and actively engaging in community service and volunteering projects.
His journey was marked by challenges such as financial struggles, hunger, and moments of self-doubt. However, his resilience, strong faith, and unwavering focus carried him through. Now a graduate, Sunday is eager to embrace transformative opportunities in his field, expressing gratitude to those who supported him along the way: “I am because you are.”
