The Federal University Birnin Kebbi (FUBK) has secured accreditation by the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN) for its MBBS programme.

In a letter dated 18th November 2024, signed by the Registrar, Dr. Fatima Kyari, the MDCN stated that “following the report of the verification visitation to your university on 14th November 2024, I am to convey Council’s provisional approval for the Pre – Clinical Accreditation of College”.
Similarly, the University received the professional accreditation of its B.Sc. Geology and B.Sc. Applied Geophysics from the Council of Nigerian Mining Engineers and Geoscientists (COMEG). The two programmers are run in the Faculty of Science of the University.
Commenting on the development, the Vice Chancellor Prof. MZ Umar expressed delight in the attainments by the University and thanked all stakeholders who contributed to making it possible.
FUBK Bulletin reports that the professional accreditations make the MBBS, Geology and Applied Geophysics offered in the University full-fledged professional courses, by standards of the regulatory bodies.
The success story is an aftermath of the visits by COMEG and MDCN accreditation teams in November 2023 and November, 2024, respectively.
