The Ilorin Emirate Professor’s Association (IEPA) awarded scholarships to 22 recipients, including two physically challenged university students, as part of its 2024 scholarship scheme.
The physically challenged beneficiaries, Ayinde Aloba from the University of Ilorin and Abdulgafar Ahmad, each received ₦100,000, a certificate, and a Holy Qur’an.
The IEPA, a body of professors from the Ilorin Emirate committed to mentorship, scholarship promotion, and good governance, hosted the scholarship presentation during its sixth Annual General Meeting (AGM) in Ilorin last Friday.
Prof. Abdulfatai Olokoba, the outgoing IEPA president, highlighted the expansion of the scholarship programme to include 22 beneficiaries this year, with the inclusion of physically challenged individuals to promote inclusivity. The programme, launched in 2022, is supported by a ₦10 million fund provided by Senator Saliu Mustapha, representing Kwara Central.
Senator Mustapha, one of three honorees recognized at the event, announced an additional ₦20 million donation to the association, emphasizing the importance of education and human capital development for the advancement of the Ilorin Emirate.
Other awardees included Senators Ibrahim Oloriegbe and Rukayat Gbemisola Saraki, recognized for their contributions to the association.
Delivering a lecture titled “Level of Educational Advancement in Ilorin Emirate: Opportunities in Employment and Appointment”, historian Alhaji Lasisi Jimoh urged professors and administrators of Ilorin descent to leave lasting positive impacts in their fields.
The IEPA continues to support education and development in the Ilorin Emirate, fostering opportunities for all, including marginalized groups.
