UNIMAID has Appointed New University Librarian.
The Management of University of Maiduguri is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Talatu Adamu Rabasa as the new University Librarian. The appointment, which takes effect from 26th June, 2025, was approved by the Governing Council of the University at its 162nd meeting held on Thursday, 26th June, 2025, following the recommendation of the Selection Board. The appointment was conveyed in an official letter signed by the Registrar of the University, Ahmed Alhaji Lawan. Dr. Rabasa will serve a single term of five years, as stipulated by the University’s governing regulations. As University Librarian, she will be responsible for the effective administration and coordination of all library services across the University, including its Colleges, Faculties, Schools, Departments, and Research Units.
PROFILE OF DR. TALATU ADAMU RABASA
Dr. Rabasa is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Library and Information Science, Faculty of Education, University of Maiduguri. With over 12 years of academic and professional experience, she has made notable contributions to the field of Library and Information Science. She holds a Ph.D. in Library Management and Administration from the prestigious University of Malaya, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Her areas of expertise include Information Access, Knowledge Organisation, Digital Library Systems, and Library Management.
Dr. Rabasa has an impressive academic record, having authored several book chapters and peer-reviewed journal articles, and presented her work at numerous national and international conferences. Her research interests focus on enhancing digital information systems, promoting knowledge dissemination, and improving library management practices. In addition to her teaching and research responsibilities, Dr. Rabasa is actively involved in curriculum development, academic programme coordination, and student mentorship. She is also a member of several professional bodies committed to advancing library and information services.
