ATBU Notice to Students on Mandatory Drug Integrity Test

Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University, ATBU notice to students on mandatory drug integrity test.

In a decisive move aligning with a Federal Government directive, the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University (ATBU), Bauchi, has announced the compulsory introduction of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) Drug Integrity Test for its student body.

The announcement, conveyed in an official memo signed by Haj. Hadeeza Ibrahim Mailafia, Deputy Registrar (Academics), applies to all new and returning students of the university.

According to the notice dated 12th December, 2025, students are required to visit the NDLEA’s dedicated online portal at drugandvisa.ndlea.gov.ng to complete the necessary procedures. The digital platform is designed to allow students to register, schedule their drug test appointments at a location and participating laboratory of their choice, and subsequently receive their test notifications and certificates digitally.

The university has made the submission of a soft copy of the drug test result a critical condition for academic registration. The memo clearly states that students must upload the certificate to their university portal “before their registration becomes valid.”

This policy underscores a growing national effort to combat drug abuse within tertiary institutions, mandating students to undergo screening as part of their clearance for the academic session.

All affected students are expected to comply promptly with the new requirement to ensure a smooth registration process for the upcoming academic activities.
