Law Graduate Sues Education Minister, Nigerian Law School, UI Professors Over Four-Year Readmission Denial

A Nigerian law graduate has sued the Minister of Education, the Nigerian Law School, and University of Ibadan professors over an alleged unlawful four-year denial of readmission, seeking a court order for reinstatement and ₦100 million in damages for rights violations and career setbacks.

A Nigerian law graduate has commenced legal proceedings against the Minister of Education, the Nigerian Law School, and some professors of the University of Ibadan, alleging that he was unjustly denied readmission for four consecutive years despite meeting required academic and administrative conditions.

According to the suit, the prolonged refusal stalled his legal education and prevented him from completing the mandatory training needed to qualify as a legal practitioner. He claims the actions of the defendants were arbitrary, unlawful, and violated his constitutional rights, including the right to fair hearing and equal treatment.

The claimant further alleges that the denial caused him severe financial hardship, emotional and psychological distress, and lasting damage to his career prospects. He is asking the court to declare the actions unlawful, compel his immediate readmission, and award ₦100 million in damages as compensation for the losses and suffering he says he endured.
