Teacher and Two Students Escape Death in Lagos Car Crash

A teacher and two students from Lagos State Model Junior College narrowly survived a high-speed car crash in Onipanu, Lagos, with minor injuries, while emergency responders secured the scene and authorities urged motorists to drive safely.

Two students from Lagos State Model Junior College, Igbonla, Epe, along with their teacher, narrowly escaped death after a car accident in the Onipanu area of Lagos. The crash occurred around 6 p.m. on Tuesday, according to the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA).

In a statement, LASEMA’s Permanent Secretary, Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, explained that the accident involved two vehicles traveling at high speed along the expressway. One vehicle veered off its lane into oncoming traffic, causing significant damage to both cars.

The Honda Accord had a single occupant, while the Suzuki Alto carried the teacher and two students—Animashaun Ridwan and Ogunbamowo Michael, both in JSS 2. LASEMA reported that thankfully, there were no fatalities, and all occupants escaped serious injuries. The students experienced minor head and eye discomfort and were promptly treated and released to their parents.

The teacher, Mr. Joseph, a Basic Technology instructor, was also unharmed. Emergency responders ensured all victims were evacuated safely, and the damaged Suzuki Alto was towed to prevent further incidents. Both vehicles were handed over to the police for further investigation.

Oke-Osanyintolu urged motorists to exercise caution on the roads, adhere to speed limits, and follow traffic regulations, emphasizing that reckless driving endangers lives. He called on all drivers to prioritize safety to prevent similar accidents in the future.
