Top Nigerian Senator Awards Scholarships to 84 Deserving Students

Cursory: Senator Albert Bassey Scholarship Scheme awarded N3.1 million to 84 out of 481 recipients for the second semester of the 2021/2022 academic session. The scholarship scheme began in January 2016 with over N150 million in funding from Senator Albert. Notably, 41 beneficiaries achieved First-Class honors, and over 300 received Second-Class Upper degrees in various disciplines.

Eighty-four out of a total of 481 recipients of the Senator Albert Bassey Scholarship Scheme have been awarded N3.1 million to cover their tuition fees and provide a stipend for the second semester of the 2021/2022 academic session.

Dr. Unyime Okon, the head of the scholarship team, mentioned that the majority of these students, accounting for 70%, are pursuing degrees in Medicine and Surgery, Pharmacy, and the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Uyo.

Additionally, students from the University of Calabar, Federal University of Technology Owerri, University of Nigeria, Nsukka, Akwa Ibom State University, and Akwa Ibom State Polytechnic, Ikot Osura, have also benefited from this scholarship.

“Forty-seven of 84 beneficiaries are graduating by end of the semester, with the rest 37 to complete their programmes by end of 2022/2023 session”.

The scholarship scheme was established in January 2016, and since its inception, Senator Albert has allocated over N150 million to support the program.
