Kano State Government has set up a Task Force to enforce compliance with closure of schools as part of campaign to contain the spread of COVID-19 pandemic.


The state’s Commissioner of Education, Mohammad Sunusi stated this at a press conference in Kano.
Sunusi said that reports reaching the ministry indicated that some unpatriotic private schools’ proprietors had shun the directives by refusing to close their schools.

He said: “The ministry has constituted a high power task force committee to go round and ascertain the level of compliance. Any school found violating the directives would be prosecuted”.
The commissioner warned that government would revoke licenses of schools found wanton.
Sunusi said that the ministry in collaboration with the office of the Secretary to the State Government (SSG) would meet with itenary Quranic teachers on the issue of Almajiri child roaming major streets of in Kano metropolis.
He added that the measure is imperative to fine tune modalities to address menace of street begging.
According to him, those found engage in roaming the streets would be returned back to their states of origin, to ensure effective prevention and control of the pandemic.
