Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for admission into the under-mentioned full-time and part-time programmes of the Institute of Education, Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria for the 2022/2023 academic sesession

Available ABU Diploma Programmes, Requirements and Fees

1. DIPLOMA IN ADULT EDUCATION AND COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT (ACD) 

Candidates for ACD must possess any of the following: 

• Atleast four (4) credit passes at SSCE/GCE O’Level in subjects including English Language.OR
• Grade Two Teachers’ Censificate with at least Ment passes in four (4) subjects, including English Language. 
• Duration: 4 Semesters
• Tuition fees: N37,500.00 per session

2. HIGHER DIPLOMA IN ADULT EDUCATION AND COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT (AC)

Candidates for HAC must possess any of the following ;

• Diploma in Adult Education & Community Development
• The Nigeria Certificate in Education (NCE) OR
• Any other Diploma recognized by the University 
• Tuition fees: N42,500.00 per session
• Duration: 2 Semesters

3. DIPLOMA IN ARABIC LANGUAGE EDUCATION (ALE)

Candidates for ALE must possess any of the following:- 

• Atleast four (4) credit passes at SSCE/GCE O’Level in subjects including English Language.OR
• Grade Teachers’ Certificate with at least four (4) merit passes in subjects including Arabic and English Language, OR
• S.I.S Certificate with four (4) credit passes in subjects including Arabic and English Language.
• Duration: 4 Semesters 
• Tuition fees: N37,500.00 per session

4. DIPLOMA IN CHRISTIAN RELIGIOUS EDUCATION (CRE)

Candidates for CRE must possess any of the following 

• At least four (4) credit passes in subjects including Christian Religious Studies and English Language, in SSCE or GCE OR 
• Four (4) menit passes in Teachers Grade II Certificate, including Christian Religious Studies and English Language. 
• Duration: 4 Semesters
• Tuition fees: N37,500.00 per session

5. DIPLOMA IN ENGLISH LANGUAGE EDUCATION (ELE)

Candidates for ELE must possess any of the following: 

• At least four (4) credit passes in subjects including English Language, in SSCE/GCE certificates
• At least four (4) menit passes in Teachers’ Grade Certificate, including English Language and Mathematics,
• Duration: 4Semesters
• Tuition fees: N37,500.00 per session

6. DIPLOMA IN GUIDANCE AND COUNSELLING EDUCATION (GCE) Candidates for GCE must possess any of the following;

• At least four (4) credit passes in subjects including English Language, in SSCE/GC Certificates OR
• At least four (4) menit passes in Teachers’ Grade Certificate, including English Language. Duration: 4Semesters 
• Tuition fees: N37,500.00 per session

7. DIPLOMA IN HAUSA EDUCATION (NED)

Candidates for HED must possess any of the following

• Atleast four credit passes at SSCE/GCE O level including Hausa and English language 
• Grade Teachers Certificate with at least four (4) ment passes including Hausa and English Language 
• Duration: 4 Semesters
• Tuition fees: N37,500.00 per session

8. DIPLOMA IN ISLAMIC EDUCATION (ISE) 

Candidates for ISE must possess any of the following-

• At least four (4) credit passes at SSCE/NECO/GCE O level including lamic Religious Studies and English Language. OR
• Grade Teacher Certificate with at least four (4) menit passes in subjects including Islamic Religious Studies and English Language Of
• S.I.S Certificate with at least four (4) credit passes including Islamic Religious Studies and English Language. 
• Duration: 4Semesters
• Tuition fees: N37,500.00 per session

3. DIPLOMA IN INTEGRATED SCIENCE EDUCATION (ISC)

Candidates for ISC must possess any of the following:

• At least four (4) credit passes at SSCE/NECO/GCE/SAISSCE O Level with at least four (4) credit passes including English Language and Mathematics OR
• Grade Teachers Certificate with at least four (4) merit passes including English Language and Mathematics, OR
• The Merit/Credit passes must include at least 3 of the basic science subjects: Chemistry Physics, Biology, Health Science, General Science or integrated Science
• Duration: 4Semesters 
• Tuition fees: N37,500.00 per session

DIPLOMA IN LIBRARY AND INFORMATION SCIENCE (LIS) Candidates for LS must possess any of the following:

• At Atleast four credit passes at SSCE/NECO/GCE O level in subjects including English Language OR
• Grade Teachers Certificate with at least four Merit passes including English Language
• Duration: 4 Semesters 
• Tuition fees: N37,500.00 per session

11. DIPLOMA IN MATHEMATICS EDUCATION (DME)

Candidates for DME must possess any of the following:

• At Atleast four credit passes at SSCE/GCE O level including English Language and Mathematics OR
• Grade II Teachers Certificate with at least four Ment passes including English Language and Mathematics 
• Duration: 4 Semesters
• Tuition Fee: N37,500.00 per session

12. HIGHER DIPLOMA IN MATHEMATICS EDUCATION (HME)

Candidates in HME must possess any of the following:

• At Atleast a pass in Mathematics at the MB, NCE or GCE ‘A’Level OR
• Diploma in Mathematics Education or Physics Education with Merit and at least one year teaching experience or Pass level with at least 3 years post qualification experience.
• Duration: 2 Semesters 
• Tuition fees: N37,500.00 per session

13. DIPLOMA IN PHYSICAL AND HEALTH EDUCATION (PHE)

Candidates for PHE must possess any of the following ;

• At least four credit passes at SSCE/GCE O level one of which must be in a science subject OR
• Grade Teacher Certificate with a minimum of four (4) Merit passes, including at least one Science subject.
• The subjects in band above must include English language and Mathematics
• All candidates for admission will be subjected to motor skills and fitness examination
• Proven ability  and achievement in Physical and Health Education
• Duration: 4 Semesters
• Tuition fees: N37,500.00 per session

14. DIPLOMA IN PHYSICS EDUCATION (PED) 

Candidates for PED must possess any of the following:

• At least four (4) credit passes at SSCE/GCE O’Level including physics, English Language and Mathematics. Duration: 4 Semesters

Tuition fees: N37,500.00 per session

B-PART-TIME LONG VACATION PROGRAMMES

15. PROFESSIONAL DIPLOMA IN EDUCATION (PDE) 

Candidates for PDE must possess: any of the following;

• Advanced Diploma 
• Higher National Diploma (HND)
• Degrees recognized by the University OR
• The areas of specialization include Primary Secondary Technical and University Education
• Duration: 2 Semesters
• Tuition Fees: N42,500 per session

16. HIGHER DIPLOMA IN GUIDANCE AND COUNSELLING EDUCATION (HGC) 

Candidates for HGC must possess any of the following:

• Diploma in Guidance and Counselling Education
• The Nigeria Certificate in Education (NCE) OR
• Any other Diploma recognized by the University. 
• Tuition fees: N42,500 per session
• Duration: 2 Contact Sessions

17. DIPLOMA IN LIBRARY AND INFORMATION SCIENCE (LIS-LVT) Candidates for LIS must possess any of the following

• At least four (4) credit passes at SSCE/GCE Or level including English Language and Mathematics OR 
• Grade II Teachers’ Certificate with a minimum of four (4) Merit passes Duration: 3 Contact Sessions 
• Tuition fees: N42,500 per session

How to apply for ABU Diploma Admission Form

Applicant for the Institute of Education Diploma, Higher Diploma, Professional Diploma in Education and LVT Programmes should visit the Ahmadu Bello University online application portal to generate the transaction identity before proceeding to the bank for payment of the application fees of Two Thousand Five Hundred Naira (N2,500.00) only (excluding bank charges). The URL that should be visited for generating the transaction identity and application online is as follows:  https://portal.abu.edu.ng/forms

On the application portal, candidates are to click on the start application menu to create an account to enable them obtain transaction ID. before proceeding to the bank using the generated RRR to make payment at any commercial bank that is online
