Nigerian Lady Shares How She’s Making Huge Money From the Skill She Learned During ASUU Strike

A Nigerian Lady identified as Onyekaonwu Victory has revealed how she is making huge money from a skill she learned during the ASUU Strike.

This is coming after the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) announced that FG has until the end of January to act or they will embark on a strike.

Sharing her story on LinkedIn, the Lady said during her University days, she used one of the strikes to learn installations of CCTV cameras, intercom, and fire alarm systems.

Adding that that skill alone is now making her lots of money as she now works as a contractor to government institutions, corporate organizations, and individuals.

Her post reads:

During my undergraduate days, I used one of the usual ASSU strikes period to learn installations of CCTV cameras, intercom and fire alarm systems.

Growing up, it was obvious that I was technically inclined however, apart from academic related matters, who would ever permit me to go into a field mostly dominated by men? At least, not my family.

I had to go for computer engineering after several failed attempts to gain admission into medical school. But today, I thank God for that path switch engineered by failures.

Why am I telling you this?

Most times, parents make choices for their children out of their own selfish purposes; not considering the child’s interests, passion or even natural inclinations.

Nobody in my family knew I was going to learn installation skills otherwise they would have discouraged or even disowned me. But for the past 9 years, I have handled major projects for government institutions, corporate organizations and individuals. And everyone in my family now boasts about my skills even more than my certificate.

As parents, help your teenagers explore other opportunities outside formal education. You’ll understand later

As a young person, do not only rely on maximizing your pen, also maximize the use of your head. You don’t know which would pay you better.

“I’m a proud CCTV camera, intercom and fire alarm installation expert. The excellence I exude in that field earned me the name ‘Odogwo na CCTV’ (I know you wanna decode that) I’m also a certified computer engineer. No clashing. You can be more.”
