National Open University (NOUN) 15th Convocation Ceremony has been announced.


The 15th Convocation Ceremony of the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) has been scheduled to hold from April 17 – 18, 2026, according to an announcement by the Registrar of the university, Mr. Oladipo Ajayi.
The Pre-Convocation Lecture, which will hold on April 17 by 11:00am, at the conference centre of the university, Jabi, Abuja, will to be delivered by the former Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Chief Kanu Godwin Agabi, SAN, CON.
The announcement said the ceremony will be conducted both on-site and off-site as those billed to attend the on-site event were urged to be seated not later than 9am at the university’s Convocation Arena, Jabi, Abuja.
The Convocation Ceremony, where the graduands would be awarded various degrees, will hold on April 18 by 10am at the Convocation Arena of the university, the announcement said.
It added that only First-Class graduands, award winners, Postgraduate Diploma (PGD) graduands, Master’s degree graduands, Doctorate and Honorary Doctorate graduands are to attend the on-site ceremony at the Convocation Arena, university headquarters in Abuja.
All other first degree graduands from all study centres, including those in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) shall participate in the ceremonies at their respective state capital study centres, the announcement explained.
Graduands are hereby informed that certificates would be made available for collection immediately after the convocation ceremonies at the university headquarters, Abuja and at their respective state capital study centre.
Additionally, graduands from study centres within Abuja are to collect their certificates at the university’s Abuja Model Study Centre, Kubuwa, Abuja, it added.
Meanwhile, graduands and other interested participants are to join from their respective state capital study centres via the university’s livestream platform at https://www.livestream.nou.edu.ng
Information to Graduands
The National Open University of Nigeria is pleased to announce its 15th Convocation Ceremonies, scheduled to hold from Friday, 17th to Saturday, 18th April, 2026, for the information of graduands, their parents/guardians, friends of the University, and the general public. Please note that the Convocation Ceremonies will be conducted both on-site and off-site, as follows:

- Graduands are hereby informed that certificates shall be made available for collection immediately after the Convocation Ceremonies at the University Headquarters, Abuja, and at their respective State Capital Study Centres. However, graduands from Study Centres within Abuja shall collect their certificates at the University Abuja Model Study Centre, Kubwa Expressway, Abuja.

INFORMATION TO GRADUANDS
A. Collection of Academic Gowns – All graduands who have successfully completed their programmes and have been duly cleared for convocation are required to sign for and collect their academic gowns and hoods from their respective Study Centres with effect from Monday, 9th March, 2026.
Graduands are required to present the following documents for verification at the point of collection:
(i) Evidence of payment of a fee of Fifty-Five Thousand Naira (₦55,000.00) via Remita, covering the hire of the academic gown, certificate folder (for placement of certificates), and other incidentals.
A sum of Twenty Thousand Naira (₦20,000.00), being the refundable gown hire deposit, shall be refunded upon return of the gown, provided it is not torn or damaged.
(Applicable to Undergraduate and Master’s graduands only.)
(ii) In the case of Doctoral graduands, evidence of payment of One Hundred Thousand Naira (₦100,000.00) only, being the prescribed fee for the outright purchase of the Doctoral academic gown, certificate folder (for placement of certificates), and other incidentals.
(iii) A duly completed and authenticated clearance form issued at the Study Centre.
(iv) Completed Alumni Membership Form, accessible via: www.advancementlinkages.nou.edu.ng
The printed form must be submitted to the Alumni Desk Officer.
Please note: Academic gowns and hoods must be returned to the respective Study Centres not later than Monday, 27th April, 2026.
B. Assembly and Seating Arrangement – All First Class graduands; award winners; PGD graduands; Master’s degree graduands; and Doctorate graduands are required to assemble at their designated locations at the Convocation Arena on Saturday, 18th April, 2026, between 8.00 a.m. and 9.00 a.m.
They must be fully robed and properly queued according to their faculties.
NO ONE, INCLUDING GRADUANDS AND THEIR PARENTS/GUARDIANS, SHALL BE ADMITTED INTO THE VENUE AFTER 9.00 A.M.
C. Accreditation of Photographers and Videographers – Commercial photographers and videographers who intend to operate at the University Headquarters, Abuja, are requested to register and obtain clearance forms from the Bursary Department, NOUN Headquarters, Jabi, Abuja, from Monday, 9th March to Friday, 10th April, 2026
Operators outside Abuja are to register and obtain clearance forms from their respective Study Centre Directors at the various State Capital Study Centres.
D. General Instructions
(i) All graduands must wear the prescribed academic gowns. Security officers shall strictly enforce the “No Gown, No Entry” policy.
(ii) No luggage, handbags, or personal effects shall be allowed into the Convocation Arena. Graduands and guests are advised, without exception, to comply strictly with this directive.
All invited guests of the University (duly identified with Invitation Cards) must be seated not later than 9.00 a.m.
(i) Designated parking lots have been provided within the University campuses. Guests are advised to park their vehicles only in the areas specified on their Invitation Cards.
E. Clearance Process
Graduands are hereby advised to commence the clearance procedures at their respective Study Centres without delay.
