Ambrose Alli University (AAU) has restricted student and staff movements to their residences ahead of the nationwide #EndBadGovernance protest in Nigeria, emphasizing safety and advising against unnecessary travel during this period.
With less than 24 hours until the planned nationwide #EndBadGovernance protest in Nigeria, the management of Ambrose Alli University (AAU) in Ekpoma has issued an order restricting student movements to their hostels and residences.
According to DAILY POST, the university’s Acting Registrar, Comrade Ambrose E. Odiase, communicated this directive in a statement released on Wednesday in Benin City. The order follows guidelines from the National Universities Commission (NUC) aimed at ensuring the safety of students and staff across Nigerian institutions of higher learning.
Odiase emphasized that the university administration advised students and staff to remain calm, assuring them that security arrangements have been made to protect lives and property on and around the campus.
The statement read, “Students and staff are advised to avoid unnecessary movements during the proposed protests. You are urged to limit your travels at this time, avoiding trips outside of Ekpoma.
“Students residing in halls of residence should remain on university premises, while those living off-campus should stay at their residences.
“Staff and students are encouraged to continue with their normal academic activities and avoid any trouble spots to avoid any risk or potential danger that may arise from the proposed protest.”
