Ahmadu Bello University, ABU Warns the Public Against Fraudsters Impersonating the Vice-Chancellor on Social Media

This is to draw the attention of members of the university community and general public that some unscrupulous individuals have cloned the social media accounts of the Vice-Chancellor, Ahmadu Bello University, Prof. Adamu Ahmed, to defraud unsuspecting persons. The nefarious act has been on since his assumption of office in May.

The hackers chat with the Vice-Chancellor’s contacts via WhatsApp and Facebook, particularly on contract awards for the supply of computers and other accessories in their desperate attempts to swindle the public. They use different phone numbers in his name and with his picture displayed.

Members of the university community and the general public are hereby urged to disregard such messages as they are nothing but a scam.

The University Security Division is already working in tandem with other security agencies to track down the fraudsters for arrest and subsequent prosecution.
