Arabic Student Commits Suicide Because of Unanswered Prayers

CURSORY : Arabic student in Kwara State kills himself when his prayers go unanswered, saying, “I would rather die than sin.”

On Thursday, December 7, Alfa Musa, a student at Sheikh Kamaldeen Arabic School, Ilọrin, was discovered hanging in his room.

Alfa Musa allegedly committed suicide due to unanswered prayers. The unfortunate incidence happened on Thursday, December 7 in the Ogidi region of the Ilorin west local government area, as reported by Daily Trust.

In a message he left behind, the 22-year-old student said that he killed himself because his prayers were unanswered.

In the note, he begged for his parents’ forgiveness and stated that he would rather die than sin.

After one of his friends visited his house and discovered that his room’s door was locked, the 22-year-old dead student was discovered hanging in his room.

A neighbour, who spoke on condition of anonymity said: “There was assurance that he was inside, but after repeated knocks without response, the door was forced open and he was found hanging.

“An empty paint container which he allegedly used to hang himself was also found in his room.”

According to DSP Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, the State Police Public Relations Officer, an inquiry into the sad situation has begun. He also said that before the deceased killed himself, the left a note.

“To my mum and dad. I am sorry, I did this because God did not answer my prayers, I would rather die than sin, please, forgive me, I love you, bury me at home.”

The residents said that, the deceased’s father, who hails from Osun State, when contacted said that his son will be buried in Ilorin against the wish of the deceased.
