ATBU Notice on Mandatory TISHIP Registration For All Students.

The attention of the Students’ Affairs Division (SAD) has been drawn by the University Medical Centre that substantial number of students have refused to register for the Tertiary Institutions Social Health Insurance Programme (TSHIP). The programme, which is under the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) of the Federal Government of Nigeria (FGN) is aimed at providing free access to medical services for Nigerian students at the tertiary level. In line with the FGN directives that all students of tertiary institution must register for the TSHIP programme, it has become imperative to unequivocally state that TSHIP registration is mandatory for all students of Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University (ATBU), Bauchi.

It is in the light of the preceding that I am writing to request you to inform all students to visit the University Medical Centre at Yelwa and Gubi campuses for registration on Monday April 7, 2025 to Friday. I1th April, 2025. Let me emphasize that students who decide not to register will not be attended to by the University Medical personnel at the Medical Centres and will not be allowed into examination halls to take the First semester 2024/2025 academic session examination
