“Babcock University Scholar Makes History With PhD Research on Boko Haram”

A 26-year-old Nigerian woman fulfilled her childhood dream of earning a PhD from Babcock University after completing a thesis focused on Boko Haram deradicalization and human security in northeastern Nigeria.

A young Nigerian scholar, Babcock University graduate Uzzibi Methuselah, has celebrated achieving her long-time dream of earning a PhD degree at the age of 26 after first setting the goal when she was just 15 years old.

The young academic revealed that she completed her doctorate in Political Science with a specialization in Defence and Strategic Studies after successfully defending her thesis titled “Boko Haram Deradicalization and Human Security in Northeast Nigeria.” She explained that the dream began shortly after finishing her WASSCE examinations in 2015, when she imagined where she wanted to be within the next decade.

In an emotional message shared online, she expressed gratitude to her supervisors, mentors, family members, and close friends who supported her throughout the demanding academic journey. She especially appreciated her father, Prof. Methuselah Jeremiah, whom she described as a constant guide and mentor during her years of study.

Her achievement sparked massive reactions on social media, with many Nigerians praising her dedication, discipline, and academic excellence. Some commenters also expressed interest in reading her research findings because of the importance of studying deradicalization, terrorism, and human security issues connected to insurgency in northeastern Nigeria.

The story has continued to inspire many young students online, especially those pursuing ambitious educational goals at an early age.
