His path to success was initiated by a newspaper article about a scholarship scheme, which his father encouraged him to apply for. This scholarship, part of a bilateral agreement between Nigeria and several countries, including Russia, paved the way for his academic achievements.
Upon arriving in Russia, Ifesinachi initially dedicated himself to learning the Russian language at Don State Technical University before transferring to Saint Petersburg State Agrarian University to pursue his passion for Agronomy.
Under the guidance of his thesis supervisor, Ifesinachi embarked on academic and industrial research methodologies, marking the commencement of his journey in scientific research.
His research focused on Aegilops species and garnered recognition from the European science community. Through identifying errors in previous studies and updating plant gene collections, Ifesinachi’s work rectified misinformation presented to the Russian government.
Despite encountering challenges, such as the rejection of his initial research publication in 2012, Ifesinachi’s perseverance and enhanced fluency in the Russian language fueled his research interests.
He intends to return to Nigeria to serve his country and is committed to sharing the knowledge acquired in Russia to contribute to Nigeria’s agricultural development. He aims to address food crises through innovative plant breeding methods.
