Brilliant Nigerian Student Graduates Top of Her Class in Software Engineering at Babcock University with 4.83 CGPA

After an unexpected academic setback, Boluwatife Anjolaoluwa Adigun discovered a passion for tech, overcame self-doubt, and graduated as the Best Student in Software Engineering at Babcock University with a 4.83 CGPA, earning multiple awards and industry experience along the way.

Boluwatife Anjolaoluwa Adigun, a determined and resilient Nigerian student, has emerged as the Best Graduating Student in Software Engineering at Babcock University, finishing with an outstanding CGPA of 4.83 out of 5.00.

From Setback to Success: Her Journey

Initially aspiring to study medicine, Boluwatife’s academic journey took a sharp detour in 2022 when she encountered a major setback that led to an unplanned gap year — a period she described as silent, painful, and filled with self-doubt.

“I took a gap year I didn’t plan for… that year forced a painful question: Who are you without the one thing you thought defined you?” — Boluwatife shared on LinkedIn.

In that uncertain season, she discovered tech — not with confidence, but curiosity — and what began as a confusing exploration turned into a life-changing passion.

Learning Tech from Scratch

Starting from ground zero, she immersed herself in the basics: watching online tutorials, debugging broken code, and trying to make sense of dense documentation. Though often overwhelmed, she persisted.

“At first, I was more confused than capable. But slowly, it started to click. I found my footing — and eventually, I found myself again.”

Her persistence turned into proficiency, and eventually, excellence.

  • 🎖️ Software Engineering Prize, awarded by Dr. Akin Alade and Dr. Folajimi Daodu

Anchored by Faith

A Bible verse guided her journey:

“It is not of him who wills, nor of him who runs, but of God who shows mercy.” — Romans 9:16

Boluwatife attributes her achievements to grace, discipline, and the steadfast support of her mentors, family, and friends.
