COOU Management Proscribes Sign-out Ceremonies For Final-year Students, Prescribes Sanctions For Violators

At its 149th Senate Meeting held on Wednesday, 24 June 2026, at the Senate Chamber, the University Management, having considered and adopted the report of the Committee on Students’ Social Regulations, approved the prohibition of Sign-Out Ceremonies across the institution.
The decision was reached on the grounds that Sign-Out Ceremonies do not constitute part of the University’s approved academic calendar and are not recognized among the officially sanctioned student activities of the institution.
Consequently, Management has directed all Deans and Heads of Departments to ensure strict compliance with this directive within their respective Faculties and Departments. They are further mandated to sensitise students on the implications of non-compliance.
Management has emphasized that appropriate disciplinary measures shall be imposed on any student found engaging in or participating in activities related to the banned ceremony.
