Dg To Corps Members: Be Productive With Your Time

Corps Members have been advised to invest their time in productive ventures that would add value to them and also bring positive results.

The Director General of National Youth Service Corps, Brigadier General Olakunle Nafiu gave this advice today in his address to the 2025 Batch ‘B’ Stream Two Corps Members at the FCT Orientation Camp in Kubwa, Abuja.

He charged them to adapt to their new environment, acquire new skills and learn new cultures.

General Nafiu also advised the Corps Members to respect the cultures of the FCT people and interact freely with them.

He urged them to endeavour complete their National service with dignity and avoid the temptation to abandon the service year somewhere along the way.

“Make friends during the service year because you are the leaders of tomorrow, get to know Nigeria through relationship, use this opportunity because NYSC is a melting point for everyone”, he said.

General Nafiu tasked the Corps Members to take the Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development seriously and learn at least one additional skill during the service year in order to achieve independence and financial empowerment, instead of depending on others for daily sustenance.

He then charged the Corps Members to be prudent with their resources and also imbibe the culture of saving for the rainy day.

While presenting his Orientation Camp situation report to the Director General, the NYSC FCT Coordinator, Mr Samson Ateli said that a total of 4,276 Corps Members comprising 1,754 males and 2,522 females were registered including those on dislodgement to Nasarawa, Niger and Kaduna Camps.

“Since the commencement of the Orientation Course, the Camp has been featuring a variety of educative, informative, recreational, leadership training and team building activities”, Ateli said.
