Enugu Council Chairman Awards M.Sc. Scholarship to UNN First-Class Graduate

Dr. Michael Uche Ogalla, Chairman of Igbo-Eze North LGA in Enugu State, awarded an M.Sc. scholarship to Abugu Jude Obinna, a UNN First-Class graduate and NYSC member, in recognition of his academic excellence and resilience through personal hardship.

The Chairman of Igbo-Eze North Local Government Area in Enugu State, Dr. Michael Uche Ogalla, has awarded a postgraduate scholarship to Abugu Jude Obinna, a First-Class graduate of Political Science from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN).

Abugu, 25, currently serving in the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), was the best graduating student in his department for the 2022/2023 academic session. He visited the council secretariat to thank Dr. Ogalla, who had personally attended his convocation, accompanied by the council’s Special Adviser on Diaspora Matters, Onu Cyril Chinedu.

Dr. Ogalla commended Abugu’s academic achievement and described him as a source of pride for the people of Igbo-Eze North. He emphasized his administration’s dedication to supporting outstanding students in the area.

Abugu, who aims to become a lecturer, said the scholarship would significantly advance his academic and professional aspirations. He recounted facing serious challenges, including the loss of his mother during his first year, which impacted his studies. Despite the setback, he persevered and expressed gratitude to his father and relatives for their support.

The scholarship award has been widely praised as a meaningful step toward promoting educational excellence and empowering young people in the community.
