A student, Tsavnav Gabriel of NKST Secondary School, was reportedly hit by a stray bullet fired by Nigerian Army troops returning from a burial escort in Benue State, sparking public outrage and calls for an investigation.

Tsavnav Gabriel, an NKST Secondary School student in Sai, Benue, was shot by Nigerian Army personnel Wednesday evening. Soldiers were returning from escorting a man’s body killed by suspected Fulani herdsmen to Tse Jato. The shooting sparked outrage.
The incident happened as troops moved through Sai community, Katsina-Ala Local Government Area. Gabriel was hit by a stray bullet, rushed to a Sai clinic for treatment. Medics stabilized him, but condition unclear.
His household was earlier displaced due to Benue’s ongoing security crisis—frequent bandit attacks, kidnappings. Residents demand army probe, accountability. “Why shoot civilians?” they ask.
Sympathizers flood social media, wishing Gabriel speedy recovery. Family pleads for peace, prayers. Police Spokesperson Udeme Edet unreachable for comment.
Similar Benue incidents: 14 abducted passengers freed, bandits kill two in Gwer West. Army silence on Gabriel’s shooting persists. Tension rises.
Residents urge calm, call for investigation. “Justice for Tsavnav!” hashtags trend.
