Lamontry’s journey began with earning his GED and taking college courses, eventually leading to a fulfilling career. He always dreamed of walking across a graduation stage, and finally achieved this milestone. Mikel, inspired by his father’s dedication, became a teacher and excelled academically, earning recognition as Teacher of the Year for Promise.
The father-son duo’s bond and shared pursuit of education culminated in a historic graduation moment. “We want to break that family cycle, that generational cycle, so everyone understands that education is the key,” Lamontry said, emphasizing the importance of their achievement.
